Naughty train treat

Foodie

I had a long day yesterday. I took the train to London (to speak at the public policy exchange) starting at 5.50 am and by the time my return train arrived at 7.20pmi just wanted naughty, yummy food!

And so in the train station I called at delice de France and bought a cheesy treat and a sweet delight.

Om. Naughty.

Altrincham market house

chicken, Foodie, Restaurant

A friend, long time unseen, visited me at work today for a lunch date. We went to the Altrincham Market House fort he first time and what a little gem it was!

Think, upper class food hall.

It’s a reasonably sized room with a collection of tables in the middle, around the outer edge there must be about 10 different mini food outlets (and a bar 😉) serving a collection from pizza to tapas to cakes!

The food seemed to average around £10 per meal and the atmosphere was just so cool and relaxed. I full on loved this place!! I’ll be back!

(I had the pie today, chicken, yum)

The most naughty dessert I have EVER made!

Baking, Chocolate, Food, Foodie, Pinterest

You can not underestimate this dessert, it’s a mammoth monster of calories and deliciousness which is a very dangerous pairing.

The base is simply crushed Oreos and butter.

The middle layer is a mixture of peanut butter and more butter.

The topping is a lashing of melted chocolate and even more butter!

Yes it’s dangerous but wow is it divine to eat. I wouldn’t recommend you try this!

Protein cookies

Baking, Chocolate, Foodie

Today I have been prepping for the week which included making his and hers protein cookies for an extra post gym protein hit!

These cookies are really simple and easy to do and consist mainly of whey powder and peanut butter. They are delish!

I like little nibbles like this, they taste great and I know when I eat them, I’m giving my body what it needs.

EARLE by Simon Rimmer (Hale)

chicken, Duck, Foodie, Restaurant, Uncategorized

I recently had the immense pleasure of eating at one of Simon Rimmers restaurants, Earle in Hale, Cheshire.

I had never been before but had heard good things and as it’s right on my door stop I thought it was about time!

First impressions: It looks really small from the outside but actually it’s like a Tardis, when you get in it actually has a decent seating capacity.

Ambiance: I really liked the atmosphere in this restaurant, the decor was a quirky mix of wood and color and the lighting set a pleasant mood to relax in.

Food: I can say nothing bad! I had a chicken liver parfait to start which was creamy and delicious. The best bit about it however was that they got the proportions of parfait, bread and chutney spot on. Sometimes you find the bread portion is less than adequate, but not at Earle. For the main I had the duck which was divine. The meat was cooked to perfection and the sweet sticky sauce was so moorish, I wished I had bread left from my starter to mop up every drop! Finally I ended on a sticky toffee pudding which was out of this world. A soft sponge which was so light and airy that it seemed to dissolve in the mouth and a toffee sauce which actually makes me want to cry knowing I don’t have a gallon of it to drink right now.

Staff: They were quite busy when we went and I must say, a little disorganized. They couldn’t find our booking to start with but then realized they were looking on the wrong screen and despite confirming our pre orders, brought us menus. Really not huge problems but a little less than perfect.

Price: I wasn’t paying so I can’t say I actually looked at the price but whatever it was, I would have paid!

Overall: 9/10. It would have been 10 if not for the slight staffing issues. A nice place to be and really great food, a definite place to go.

Bulls head, Mobberley: review

Food, Foodie, Restaurant, Uncategorized

I frequent the Bulls Heas in Mobberley, Knutsford all the time, A) because it’s my local and B) because it’s AMAZING!

Firstly, it’s atmosphere is brilliantly welcoming. The beer garden us large and accessible in a beautiful setting meaning on a warm day it’s a perfect place to be. Inside it’s dark and cosy with a roaring fire. Dogs are welcome too which is an added benefit for me!

The bar is stocked with all the usual suspects but it also has a great local beer selection and a large whisky selection.

The food is top quality. It features an upper class selection at reasonable prices and the menu changes just enough to not get bored  but not too much that you miss your favorites.

During my recent visit I enjoyed the game stew….sounds simple but words can not describe how delicious this dish was!!

Baking: my long lost friend

Breakfast, Cook book, Food, Foodie, Uncategorized, Weight watchers: Around the world

Normally when I come home I am happy to make dinner but that’s about as much Ican be bothered to do. However tonight I baked!!! 😀

Not the most exciting bake I grant you but a bake non the less!

I quite enjoyed it too, listened to a bit of serial, relaxed..it was good.

I made raspberry muffins from the weight watchers book. I just ate one and they are not too bad, not overly sweet but they would actually be a really nice breakfast muffin. And so a breakfast muffin they shall be!

16 Inches of Joy

Food, Foodie, Pizza

16 inches of Joy!
Total naughty night last night!

No cooking, just a massive 16 inch takeaway pizza!!

Chicken, bbq, pineapple, sweet corn. Oh my!

Babylon pizza Knutsford: I don’t highly rate it but it’s the only pizza place that delivers to my village so pizza beggars can’t be choosers!

Movie night: slight fail

Food, Foodie, Pork

Movie night came round again and last night we watched “what strangers do in the night” (great film) and had very stereotypical “movie” food.

I went with hotdogs, Chilli dogs to be exact. They are cheap, easy and fitting.

However the last couple of times I have had them I wasn’t keen and sadly last night affirmed these feelings of displeadment. Yuk! Not keen at all, hotdigs shall not be making an appearance in my kitchen for a while!

And erm yes, lambrini played its part! It’s a bit of a guilty pleasure! 😉
