Double beast burger

Beef, Burger book

There is not a single way I could promote this as healthy but I’ll try….

  1. It is made of lean beef
  2. It has salad
  3. It’s fresh

Convinced?

No, I would be either! This is a beast of a burger, 2 home made beef patties, lettuce, tomatoe, gherkins and a whole lot of cheese!!

Really simple parties, just beef mince, seasoning, egg yolk and chopped onion.

Delish 😊

Whisky burger

Beef, Hamburger gourmet

Last night I made a whisky burger and there was no mistaking the whisky. Boy did it pack a punch!

I used the Hamburger gourmet book and it stated to use bourbon but as Gav isn’t too fond of that type of whisky I used a really peaty Scottish whisky called Smokehead. It was flipping amazing, really powerful and smoky.

It’s a really straightforward pattie, literally just 125g mince, doused in whisky and shaped. Griddle it for 2 minutes each side and it’s done. It was served in a brioche bun with rocket and a simple cheese sauce (chedder, water, chopped pepper)

A great Saturday night plate of food.

CREO Burger (Crab-a-licious)

Cook book, Fish, Hamburger gourmet, Vegetarian

I take great pleasure in delving into the many burger recipe books I have but I always tend to lean towards the Beef variety (knowing that Gav likes these bad boys best!). So, now and again I force myself to pick a recipe which offers a little more adventure!

Last week I plucked out this little nipper (Crab….Do you get it? Ha) and it was a great pick indeed, adventure paid off!
Burger 2

After looking at the recipe initially I wondered how substantial this burger was going to be? I’m not greedy and I mainly have a balanced healthy diet but when I have a burger, I’ not really thinking “Health”…..I’m more along the lines of “Give me food!!!”

The actual burger ingredients didn’t look like they would produce anything more than a slither but how wrong I was. The pattie  turned out to be a huge chunk of a thing  which I was most pleased about! I popped it in a brioche bun and made some onion rings as a side.

It was filling, tasty and offered something a little different. A great Saturday night dish!

Midweek movie night BURGER

Beef, Cook book, Food, Weight watchers: Around the world

It’s a late post folks but fear not, we did not miss movie night this past week!

This time around I opted for a burger from the weight watchers book to try and keep a little healthy but I really couldn’t see the difference between this burger and many others I have made. This leads me to believe all burgers are healthy! ( I wish. As you can see I added chips too so really, there was nothing healthy about this)

Healthy or not, it was blooming good and it stirred the claim from Gav of “best home made burger to date”.

Diablo burger

Beef, Cook book, Hamburger gourmet, Spicy

I LOVE a good burger and I often buy Gav burger cook books as he LOVES them more than me (however I tend to book them so I guess really I’m buying myself the cook book!)

The most recent recipe tried from the Hamburger Gourmet cookbook was the Diablo burger, a hot and spicy beef burger.

It was lush! For those of you who read my blog you will know I am partial to a spicy kick and this delivered.

Vitello Tonnato burger

Burger book, Cook book, Food, Food general

Probably the most “real” cooking I’ve done all week!

I’m not sure why my kitchen activities have been so lazy this week but they have. Yesterday however normal service resumed and I whipped up this little bad boy!

Homemade focaccia? Yes

Homemade veal burgers? Yes

Homemade sauces? You get the picture!!

I did have questions over the Tuna and caper sauce. It seems a little odd right? Especially with the veal? I even told the Jones that I would put the sauce on the side just in case it wasn’t palatable but actually it tasted so delicious that I made an exec decision and put it straight I the burgers!

The focaccia bread base was a nice break from the usual top and bottom bun. The burger itself was moist and tasty and the addition of the salad and sauce made it a rather grown up burger.

I would highly recommend you try this dish. If you didn’t make the bread it would also be a very fast dish to prepare…very little cooking involved!

A DIRTY emergency

Food, Food general, Foodie, Kitchen

Crisis averted every one, panic over! Phew 😯

My online grocery order was delivered this evening. I’ve been super healthy this week, gym, good food, no alcohol and to my delight I’ve lost 3 pound. So…… Tonight was my night off so I had planned to make a venison burger.

To my HORROR, the venison wasn’t delivered!!!!! So I had to be creative in order to make a tasty treat for the particular reason to prevent me ordering a takeaway.

I found steak, I had bread buns and I had cheese. All popped together with some Cajun spice and onion, the steak burger was created. Holy yum!

No too unhealthy but bad enough to give me my dirty fix. Not too shabby.
