No excuses here.
This is some high calorie, high taste, deep fried mother macaroni!
Take macaroni cheese. Roll it in a ball. Coat it in bread crumbs. Fry it.
Immense. Naughty. Tasty.
It was so good, despite the fat content I ate the left overs the next day……with a salad to ease my guilt.
There is not a single way I could promote this as healthy but I’ll try….
- It is made of lean beef
- It has salad
- It’s fresh
No, I would be either! This is a beast of a burger, 2 home made beef patties, lettuce, tomatoe, gherkins and a whole lot of cheese!!
Really simple parties, just beef mince, seasoning, egg yolk and chopped onion.
Summer nights call for light scrumptious dishes and this meets the brief. This tomato and rocket flan throws fresh, vibrant flavours at you and treats you to a naughty pastry punch.
You can of course make your own pastry but in this case I didn’t…..hands slapped!
So all you need to do is:
- Put your pastry in your dish and blind bake for 10 minutes with baking beads, then bake for a further 5 minutes without the beads
- Whilst baking whisk 4 eggs with 150g chedder cheese, 150ml double cream, salt and pepper
- Also roast 250g cherry tomatoes in olive oil
- When ready, fill your pastry case with as much rocket as you desire, plus the cooked tomatoes
- Then fill the case with the egg mix and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden
- Serve with a simple side salad!
A really simple and fast dinner tonight folks…..Omelette!
Healthy, fresh, tasty and easy. What’s not to like?
This omelette is made up of 4 eggs, a sprinkling of mature chedder, a handful of kale and few green olives. Totally tasty, the salty olives against the string cheese make for an exciting twist!
Last night I made a whisky burger and there was no mistaking the whisky. Boy did it pack a punch!
I used the Hamburger gourmet book and it stated to use bourbon but as Gav isn’t too fond of that type of whisky I used a really peaty Scottish whisky called Smokehead. It was flipping amazing, really powerful and smoky.
It’s a really straightforward pattie, literally just 125g mince, doused in whisky and shaped. Griddle it for 2 minutes each side and it’s done. It was served in a brioche bun with rocket and a simple cheese sauce (chedder, water, chopped pepper)
A great Saturday night plate of food.
I blooming love this time of year and it wouldn’t feel festive if I couldn’t go along to a Christmas market on a chilly night! Wrapping up warm, drinking mulled wine and noshing on a sausage….bliss!
Everyone who reads my blog will have seen that each week I have a movie night and typically the food that accompanies this night is naughty, comforting, tasty and did I say naughty?
This week we had this dip. It’s a really great, simple dish but packs a flavor punch that will leave you dazed and elated!
All you need to do is:
- Mix chopped jalapeño’s, one can of sweetcorn, one 250g tub of cream cheese, 200g of cheddar, 200g of monetary jack cheese, season and a tbsp of paprika
- Place in the oven (200) for 20 minutes or until hot and gloopy!
For the chips (semi homemade)
- Cut tortilla wraps into chip shapes, coat well in olive oil and paprika (this can be any spice really or just salt) and place in a single layer on a baking tray
- Bake at 180 for 5 minutes….watch them carefully as they burn quickly!
What you will then have is a bowl of spicy, cheesy amazingness and some sweet, crispy bites to transport the cheeseyness into your face!
Awesome guilt food at its best
Me and Gav like to break up the working week with a naughty movie night. It’s really just an excuse to pick a movie, have a tipple and eat guilty food. Last night we watched The Babadook, it was not good, but the food was yummy and picked by Gav for a change.
We had grilled Gouda and mushroom sandwiches:

A completely greasy, naughty dish but so indulging and delicious. However, today I can still feel the grease sitting on my stomach and so I think it will be a while before I revisit grilled cheese!!
Tonights dinner is quite simply about health. Still tasty? Of course, but it’s focus was to provide me with a nutritious protein filled plate of which I could both enjoy and benefit from.
- Cooked smoked salmon
- Baked cherry tomatoes
- Cottage cheese
- Chili beetroot
- Sweet chili sauce
A delicious guilt free dish!
Crisis averted every one, panic over! Phew 😯
My online grocery order was delivered this evening. I’ve been super healthy this week, gym, good food, no alcohol and to my delight I’ve lost 3 pound. So…… Tonight was my night off so I had planned to make a venison burger.
To my HORROR, the venison wasn’t delivered!!!!! So I had to be creative in order to make a tasty treat for the particular reason to prevent me ordering a takeaway.
I found steak, I had bread buns and I had cheese. All popped together with some Cajun spice and onion, the steak burger was created. Holy yum!
No too unhealthy but bad enough to give me my dirty fix. Not too shabby.
