So after recently learning about cured eggs, and happening to have some spare yolks going today, I’ve decided to give it a go!
- Mix 250g of sugar and 250g salt
- Put 1/2 of the mixture in a bowl
- Lay the yolks gently on the mix
- Cover the yolks with the final 1/2 of the salt mix
- Wrap in cling film so it’s air tight and chill for 4 days.
Now the wait begins, I’ll let you know how it goes folks!
Hmmmm☺️ this name makes me smile!
Cooking with Tom Kerridge recently using his book Toms Table. It’s a great book but many recipes require hard to get ingredients and a lot of time, however this is one of the less intensive recipes.
A throughly delish dish, soft beautiful steak with a creamy sauce. Message me for the recipe
Jamie’s Super Food book is a bit of an odd one for me, it offers some good recipies but few actually appeal. I mean, I will make them, you know I have this obsession with new recipies, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy them, but I lack lust for them. They are also more on the complex side and so not a “quick prep job” for when I get home.
Tonight I whipped up the Mexican soup. It was OK. It had a very fresh taste and would make a nice summer soup but to be honest, I’d skip the chickpeas next time!
My wonderful grandad stocks me up with a bounty of veg from his allotment each time I see him, it’s great!
I can’t always work the veg into my recipes but I absolutely hate wasting food and so I usually try and get creative.
I had a huge red cabbage slowly starting to look sadder and sadder in my fridge and so tonight I’ve turned it into a stewed red cabbage side which I’ll freeze and bring out to add to dishes when the time calls!
The recipe I used can be found here:http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/5052/chinese-braised-red-cabbage
Say no to food waste people!
Last night I rang Gav…. I said “can’t be bothered to cook, go get some wine, pick up some food too” (with maybe a few pleasantries slotted in also)
He came home with wine (2 bottles) and a pizza and garlic bread combo from the Co op. Normally I’m not a fan of ready made pizza but the Kashmiri pizza from the co op is my guilty pleasure. Nom! Only problem was, I had to share!!
I rarely make thai food. In the past I’ve found the signature lemongrass flavor unappealing but these days my pallet has adjusted and I’ve grown to like it.
So on Monday night when I delved into Jamie’s ministry of food and opted for this prawn green thai curry I was truly excited for the powerful flavor bursts and perfumed delight that surely it would result in right?
I was soooo disappointed. The meal tasted nice, don’t get me wrong but it defiantly lacked the umph I had hoped. Basically it was a tad on the bland side and although I won’t be making this again, I am going on the hunt for a better green Thai recipe!
I love this little extra that Gavin bought me this year…….I think I’m going to enjoy the weekly food planning even more now!!!!
