Prezzo (Euston): The food was nice. The service was pants. 🙃
Hmmmm☺️ this name makes me smile!
Cooking with Tom Kerridge recently using his book Toms Table. It’s a great book but many recipes require hard to get ingredients and a lot of time, however this is one of the less intensive recipes.
A throughly delish dish, soft beautiful steak with a creamy sauce. Message me for the recipe
Brilliant news guys, its Friday!
And because its Friday I thought I would treat my self to a little delight. I hopped along to Patisserie Valerie and delved right in. Yes they do a splendid looking selection of cakes but I am a real dairy fiend and so Ice cream was my weapon of choice.
I honestly can not tell you how disappointed I was. (It looks nice….It was not!)
The ice cream, both flavors (Pistachio and Rum Raisin) had this weird and unpleasant texture. I can only describe if as being filled with chewy (really chewy) and slightly fluffy bits, it was as though the ice cream may have developed a kind of crust and had then been mixed into itself. It certainly was not an ice cream with added bits, such as choc chip, it was very much like ice cream gone wrong and in my 30 years of ice cream eating, iv’e never experienced this.
What was far more annoying however is when we questioned the waitress about it she was clueless. When I said is it supposed to be like this? She answered “I don’t know, I don’t eat Ice Cream”….What?!?!?!?! Surely she has at some point eaten ice cream, or at least knows the basics of how ice cream should be! What a muppet. Terrible customer service, no offer of apology or even even the courtesy of checking on the issue. I will not be going back Patisserie Valerie (Chester).
I have fallen in to the coffee trap at age 30.
For years in the office a faced questions of disbelief such as “what? You don’t drink hot drinks???” and I took a small level of enjoyment in saying “No, just water for me thanks” but it has not securely locked me in its grasp and I am now a fully fledged caffeine addict.
So, happy Friday peeps, enjoy coffee, get through your day and be ready for the weekend!
Naught, Naughty, Naughty….the Friday Fiend has been released!
After a week of missed gym sessions, yummy but unhealthy food and far too much alcohol, what other way is there to end the week?
I’m blaming Gavs return home for all of this weakness but really I haven’t required too much persuasion!
And so…………..doughnuts it is! These are from Greggs, that famous high street staple. I’m not sure I have ever had a Greggs doughnut before but they are OK, not the best, not the worse, but they certainly hit my sweet tooth. Nom
I raided the kitchen and whipped up this tasty, slightly naughty dinner last night. I’d treat myself to a tipple of wine and so didn’t want to be in the kitchen an age, but I was hungry and needed substance!
Breaded chicken wraps with rocket and sundried tomato salad
- Cut a chicken breast in to slices, coat in flour, egg and breadcrumbs (I mixed paprika in with my bread crumbs) then gently fry
- Fry onions and peppers
- Place the chicken, onions and peppers in your wraps and pop under the grill to toast
- Mix up your salad: I used rocket, sundried tomatoes, olive oil, lemon and seasoning
Really easy. Relatively quick. A taste of slight guilt food for a Friday night!
A Friday night fast fix was required last night and so I opted for a spaghetti carbonara.
Gavin happens to love creamy pasta dishes and so I was on to a winner before I even started!
As you would expect from a carbonara it took very little time to prepare and cook. The only slight problem I had was that I added the eggy cream mix whilst the pan was too hot and so the eggs scrambled slightly, regardless of this it was a tasty, creamy, sweet dish.

Any of you lovers who have been following my blog will know that my other half Gavin is currently in China. 😓
This is bad enough but what’s worse is that Friday night is usually a fun food night!
Now I’m currently on a super health kick and it doesn’t feel so fun cooking for one on a Friday so I at least tried to make an effort tonight with this chicken and Aubergine melt!
Yes it was nice. I love a nice crispy ciabatta and melted mozzarella is just dreamy.
I sound kind of despondent about It I know. Really, on a Thursday night I may gush a little more about this dish but It just didn’t feel naughty enough for a Friday (for a start I’m sated but not stuffed, that’s great, but feels boring) CONFUSED!
Fondu Friday, I’ve missed you! 😊
Last night I made me and Gav a meaty cheesy treat. We throughly indulged on deliciously alcoholic dipping frenzy whilst helping it down with a crisp Chardonnay.
I will admit the alcoholic taste was a little strong for me and those of you who have had fondu will know as it continues to cook the alcohol taste becomes stronger! However the apple and Parma ham dippers made for a refreshing taste.
A fun treat!
