You can not underestimate this dessert, it’s a mammoth monster of calories and deliciousness which is a very dangerous pairing.
The base is simply crushed Oreos and butter.
The middle layer is a mixture of peanut butter and more butter.
The topping is a lashing of melted chocolate and even more butter!
Yes it’s dangerous but wow is it divine to eat. I wouldn’t recommend you try this!
I have been to the Botanist before in Alderly Edge and it has always been great.
I have been to the one in Chester twice now and both times I have to say that the service has been slow, slow, slow! We went yesterday, it was quite empty and so slow, was not excusable!
However the food did not let me down. This time I had the chicken and chorizo pie. It was creamy, a tad spicy and throughly enjoyable. I would certainly revommend!
It also has a nice atmosphere in here, relaxed and comfortable plus slightly quirky.
Last night we returned home at about 6pm after a weekend of 2 christenings, 1 wedding and a total of over 9 hours driving! Needless to say I was super tired and so rather than cook, I bought a pie from our local co op and put my feet up!
It was a steak pie and I accompanied it with some mini roast potatoes and sweetcorn. It was deliciously naughty but just what I needed after a busy weekend. Comfort food at its best!!!!!
So yesterday I cook for the first time a recipe out of Jamie Oliver’s new comfort food book. A chicken pie…easy right?
Wrong. I should have realized its complexity when you started with a whole chicken! But after hours of hacking, sealing, sautéing and baking it resulted in the biggest flavor……so worth the effort. I would recommend trying it if you have a free afternoon!
