Alderley edge bar and grill review

Restaurant

Date night last night involved a meal at the Bar and Grill restaurant in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.

This is my 2nd visit now and I would quite happily keep on going.

Food: I had the prawn tempura starter. The dish was presented very prettily and consisted of 4 monster prawns with a delicate batter and a sweet, lime laced Chilli sauce. For the main I had spilled pork burger which was juicy and moist and was so large I barely touched the chips. Alongside this we were given bread and dipping oil and overall I really couldn’t complain about any part. Delicious (Gav had the beef carpaccio which was melt in the mouth, followed by a risotto)

Price: 2 starters, 2 mains, a bottle of Chardonnay, a espresso martini and a vodka for just under ¬£100. Very reasonable.

Ambiance: A modern clean cut venue, white and fresh. We had the added benefit of being sat by the window so had the enjoyment of watching the night pass and the fancy cars too! (When you go out I this area you have to be aware it’s full of money and so be prepared for: fast cars / botoxed women / old men pretending to be young / dapper outfits)

Negative: the only complaint is that as soon as we declined pudding we were ignored. When we wanted another drink Gav had to hail down a waitress who seemed annoyed at our request. Despite repeating the order twice the waitress for some reason didn’t understand and a second person then came over (how hard is it to understand “vodka pleas”?)

Score: 9/10 It would have been a 10 if it wasn’t for the slight waitress complaint

Noodles return….with Prawns!

Chinese, Food, Food general, Foodie, prawn

Despite my love affair with noodles it’s a while since I’ve made up a batch, but tonight changed that.

Prawn Noodles was the dinner choice for tonight, with a Chinese influence:

  1. Place the Noodles in boiling water and add 1tbsp Soy sauce, 1tsp Chinese five spice and leave to soften.
  2. Meanwhile fry thinly sliced carrot, onion and chili in a wok
  3. When softened slightly add some chopped kale and the prawns
  4. Finally season and mix the prawn mixture into the noodles

In total this dish took 20 minutes max and was ram packed full of full of taste. Tuesday night I challenge you to give me better food! Not likely! ūüėČ

Another YUMMLY recipe folks! (Come on, get the app)

I try and have fish at least once a week and I have had this recipe sat waiting to be used for an age, so this week I did it.

As you can imagine with a wrap, it was very easy and quick to make.

The prawns took a few minutes to cook but aside from that it was pretty much just popping all the ingredients in the wrap!

We had this with a side salad and overall, it was pretty nice.

The only negative was that my wraps felt a little thin (I like some chunk to my wraps!) and so next time, I think I would bulk up the ingredients.

Yep, my version didn’t look quite as good as this!
